Neuromuscular Reeducation (NMR) is the process of correcting non-functional movement patterns that are often the root of chronic pain. An example of this could be unilateral low back pain that develops after a knee surgery. Your brain develops new strategies to avoid creating knee pain without sacrificing stability. This is problematic because the brain has to recruit additional muscles to do this and a non-functional pattern is born. This pattern eventually creates pain for the recruits that lasts until the underlying pattern is corrected. Muscle testing, acupuncture, and E-stim techniques are applied to reeducate the cerebellum and correct the non-functional pattern.
